How Much Money Can Be Made on eBay?

There is no one answer to this question. The selling techniques are extremely important, as are the items being sold. Another important factor is the sell-through ratio. A low ratio means that you’ve listed a lot of stuff but sold very few. Low sell-throughs lead to a loss of profits and often mean no profits at all. It also matters whether you are selling part time or full time.

For a full time seller, $50-60K is not unheard of. It’s an amount that I consider to be a reasonable gauge of success. I have talked to sellers who made six figures and to sellers who make about $24K, all of whom sold full time. So, there is an extremely wide variation.

If you are selling full time and are closer to the $24K than the $100K mark, it’s time to reevaluate your business. You probably need to sell items with a higher profit margins or items that take less time to list and ship.
